What do you like to grow?
Welcome! I’m so glad you dropped by.
My name is Jennifer, and I love the idea of wide open space.
Spaciousness is freeing, but adventure comes with risk. I grew up in West Texas, but as an adult I’ve moved from the East Coast to the West Coast, ending up all the way north in Minnesota. In 2024 I moved all the way south — and now live in Alabama with my husband Joel and a joyful—if exuberant—Black labrador retriever.
In every move I’ve made, I’ve learned to embrace journeying— both its opportunities and its uncertainties. Creating wide open space in our lives leaves us room to journey, make mistakes, and seek the risk of adventure. This is what I love writing and talking about.
I hold a MA in Christian Spiritual Formation and Leadership from Friends University. I enjoy teaching, speaking, and writing in the area of spiritual formation. I like conversations about how to create a seasonal rhythm of life, how to find our way into contemplative practices, how to expand our definitions of prayer, and the ways we move from one space, or place, or season into another over the course of our lives.
In short, I like talking with people about creating wide open space for the kingdom of God to burst in, particularly in the middle of big life transitions.
Here are a few other things about me. I like plunging my hands into dirt and watching things grow from soil. I like making giant messes in my kitchen that turn into food my family enjoys eating. I love cozying up with a good book and a cup of coffee. I really love chasing my dogs around the house. I love spending time with my three adult children: a son and a daughter-in-law in Florida, and a daughter studying in Oxford, England. One of the great joys of my stage of life right now is how much I learn from the three of them.
My favorite word is grow. I love growing older, growing faith, growing children, growing plants, growing friendships and watching the light grow in the depth of winter. I wonder what you like to grow?
I’m excited that you want to join me on this journey. Let’s find wide open space together.
You are welcome here.
